Andy Makucewicz died suddenly from a heart attack on 11th May 2010.
Andy started as a fencing parent at Gravesham Fencing Club about 10 years ago. He did little fencing himself, but supported his son Alek, whose successes while fencing at Gravesham included gold at the BYC under-12 foil and silver at the under-14 foil. Andy was always ready to help at presiding junior events but in particular developed his armoury skills. He was on the club committee until recently and was at the club a few days before his death collecting foils for repair. He will be much missed for his cheerful and constructive contribution to the club.
